About Marty Fischer
Marty Fischer is one of America’s best-known outdoor personalities. A graduate of Georgia Southern College, with a degree in Speech-Public Relations, he is the host of the Wing & Clay Nation radio series and has been a fixture on national outdoor television for more than a quarter century. Millions have read his articles in numerous outdoor and lifestyle magazines. For the past three decades he has dedicated his life to his passion for the outdoors as a shooting professional, television and video host, shooting instructor, gun club design and business consultant, outdoor writer and book author, public speaker and volunteer instructor for youth shooting sports programs across the country.
He is the Host and Executive Producer of an all wingshooting television series called If it Flies…, which aired on the Pursuit Channel, one of the largest outdoor television networks in the world. The series features wingshooting from the very best places throughout North America and around the world, and not only includes great hunting footage, important shooting tips that viewers can use as well as showcasing the lifestyle
of the wingshooting enthusiast are a part of each episode. A clay target segment called “You Make the Shot” is also a part of every If It Flies… episode.

For nine seasons he was a Host and Partner of the Shotgun Journal television series. During its nine-year run, the Shotgun Journal was the most watched wingshooting television series ever produced. He is a professional wingshooter, a National Sporting Clays Association Level III shooting instructor (37 years of wing and clay target coaching experience), a highly sought-after public speaker and gun club designer. He is widely respected as one of the finest shooting instructors in the U.S. and is one of America’s leading gun club design consultants and shooting event managers. A recent online article published on the popular Shotgun Life website referred to Marty as “the world’s most famous left-handed wingshooter.”
To date, he has designed and set targets for more than 150 public and private clay target facilities throughout North America, and he was once referred to as “perhaps the most sought-after gun club designer in America” by the Knoxville News-Sentinel newspaper in Tennessee. In a recent article in Garden and Gun Magazine about the best sporting clays courses, six of the nine featured facilities were Marty Fischer designs.
In 2012 the magazine selected one of Fischer’s sporting designs as “Best of the Best” – Foxhall Resort and Sporting Club near Atlanta.
As a public speaker, he has appeared on behalf of organizations at shows like National Wild Turkey Federation, Bass Pro Shops Fall Hunting Classic, Georgia Wildlife Federation, Safari Club International Convention, the National Rifle Association, the National Shooting Sports Foundation – SHOT Show, Virginia Sportsman’s Show, International Sportsman’s Expo, Palmetto Sportsman’s Classic, National Association of Range Owners, North American Gamebird Association, International Wingshooting and Flyfishing Expo and
many more.
Marty is the host of four hunting and two sporting clays instructional videos – An Introduction to Sporting Clays (1992), Developing Your Own Style of Shooting (1997), The Art and Science of Pheasant Hunting (1998), The Art and Science of Duck Hunting (1998) and The Art and Science of Goose Hunting (1999). These videos are on wingshooting and clay target instruction and are available in major sporting goods retailers and over the Internet. His latest video offerings are Wingshooting – Putting More Birds in Your Bag (2005) and Swamp Ghost – Hunting the Osceola Turkey (2006).
He has appeared in numerous other hunting videos including Mossy Oak’s Whistling Wings II, Mossy Oak’s Extreme Spring 5 and Green Timber Duck Hunting II with Kirk McCullough.

His first book, Limbhangers & 4-Letter Words was released in late 2007 and is currently available. His second book, The Gun Digest Book of Shotgunning, was published by Krause Publications in early 2010, and is now sold out in hard copy, but is being made available digitally. Limbhangers & 4-Letter Words is a non- fiction book about turkey hunting and the shotgun book is a how-to piece on wingshooting.
Fischer is a five-time competitor in the World Duck Calling Championship in Stuttgart, Arkansas, and was a four-time finalist and Top 5 finisher in that event. He is a three-time Georgia State Duck Calling Champion, a Great Lakes Calumet Regional Duck Calling Champion and a Southeastern Regional Duck Calling Champion. Marty was a judge for the 1997 World Duck Calling Championship.
An avid turkey hunter, Marty, and his TV partner Todd Cast participated in and won the 2015 TurkeyFest World Invitational Turkey Hunting Championship in Henrietta, Texas. He can now add a “World Champion” title to his many outdoor accomplishments. He has seven wild turkey Grand Slams to his credit.
He is an avid hunter who has taken big game, turkeys, and birds in more than 35 U.S. states and 10 different countries on four continents. As a professional wingshooter, Marty has harvested more than 100,000 game birds around the world. His international wingshooting travels include more than 30 trips to multiple states in Mexico, five provinces in Canada and 17 trips to Argentina, as well as wingshooting excursions to Bolivia, Uruguay, Spain, Hungary, South Africa, Germany, and Colombia.
He has owned two Master Hunter Labrador retrievers, including the first chocolate Labrador retriever in the history of the breed to earn two Master Hunting Retriever titles (AKC & NAHRA). For years he was a sanctioned retriever field trial judge and was also one of three judges for the prestigious Ducks Unlimited Continental Retriever Championship.
In addition to his vast outdoor experience, Marty recently completed filming a small role in the upcoming Hollywood film Emperor, which premieres in 2019. He played a member of the Harpers Ferry militia in the movie.
